Berge Edward Demirgian, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at home in Statesboro, GA, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Born in Manhattan, New York on February 23, 1922, he was the son of the late Edward Demirgian and Ebrakce Ekshian Demirgian, native Armenian immigrants that immigrated through Ellis Island, N.Y. in the early 1900′s. Extremely proud of his Armenian heritage, Berge relished sharing stories of the “old country”; stories of faith, family, and hardworking values that had been passed down from his parents and grandparents.

Drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942, Berge proudly served his country as an aircraft maintenance and service technician during World War II. After the war ended, he attended the prestigious Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y., from which he graduated with a degree in Graphic Design.

However, a professional career in art design wasn’t meant to be for Berge. The tropical climate of South Florida and his love for family lured him into relocating to Miami, FL in 1947, when he joined his father and brother in the family business, Ansonia Cleaners. Providing professional dry cleaning services that catered to the big hotels and movie stars on Miami Beach, Ansonia Cleaners had the exclusive valet service at the world famous Kenilworth, Fontainebleau and Eden Roc Hotels during the “Rat Pack Era”.

The brothers later went on to venture into the automobile sales business with the establishment of Ansonia Motors, which operated in the Little River area of Miami for over 20 years until their semi-retirement in the early 1980′s.

Who could have known that the best was yet to come only a short time later. Unable to satisfy his strong work ethic in semi-retirement and encouraged by his son who was already establishing himself as a leader in the ground support industry, they embarked on a new journey together. In 1987, with the formation of Aeromotive Ground Support, Inc., a refurbishment and sales company for GSE equipment worldwide, Berge finally found his true professional calling.
Afforded the opportunity to work alongside both of his children every day for the past 28 years, before his final retirement in December of 2014, was one of the greatest joys in his life.

Berge is preceded in death by his brother Archie Demirgian, of Davie , FL. He is survived by his wife, the love of his life for almost 60 years, Moineau “Petey” Brown of McRae, GA, a son Thomas Demirgian, of Davie, FL, daughter Susan (Tom) Clayton and grandson Matthew Clayton, all of Statesboro, GA and sister
Elizabeth Demirgian, O.P. of Adrian, MI, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Remembrances may be made to Savannah Holy Church of God 707 Little Neck Road, Savannah, GA 31419
